StreamBank names new chief executive ahead of specialist lending expansion

StreamBank is preparing for a change in leadership as it looks to extend its activities beyond its established bridging, commercial and buy-to-let lending markets.

Barry Carter, currently chief executive of Hinckley & Rugby Building Society, will take over from Mike Kirsopp on 14 December 2026, bringing more than 25 years’ banking and financial services experience to the role.

Kirsopp is retiring after leading the lender through a period of growth and helping to establish its position in the specialist property finance market.

Carter’s appointment comes as StreamBank considers opportunities to widen its lending range while retaining its existing approach to broker relationships, funding decisions and access to its lending team.

At Hinckley & Rugby, Carter previously held the position of chief operating officer before being appointed chief executive. His career includes senior responsibilities for business transformation, operations and strategic growth.

PLANS FOR FURTHER GROWTH

Carter (pictured) says: “I’m thrilled to be joining StreamBank at such an exciting point in its journey.

“In a remarkably short period of time, the business has established itself as a major force in the bridging market, demonstrating what can be achieved with a clear vision, exceptional people and an unwavering commitment to delivering for brokers and customers.”

He identifies further growth in the lender’s existing markets, alongside potential diversification into related specialist finance sectors, as priorities.

Carter adds: “The foundations that have been built are incredibly strong, and I see enormous potential for StreamBank to continue its impressive growth.

“There are significant opportunities to deepen our presence in existing markets while exploring complementary specialist lending sectors where we can add real value.

“I look forward to working alongside the talented team to build on the success achieved to date and write the next chapter of the StreamBank story.”

“We have ambitious plans for the future, and Barry’s leadership will be instrumental in helping us realise them.”

Treble also pays tribute to Kirsopp’s contribution to the lender.

He says: “I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mike Kirsopp for his outstanding leadership, energy and commitment over the past few years.

“Mike has played a pivotal role in establishing StreamBank as one of the UK’s leading specialist property finance lenders, building a business with an exceptional reputation and a strong platform for future growth.

“I would like to wish Mike a long, happy and well-deserved retirement and thank him for the lasting contribution he has made to the business.”
