Magnet Capital appoints Pollins as CFO

Magnet Capital has appointed Simon Pollins as Chief Financial Officer as the development finance lender looks to increase its lending capacity and broaden its proposition.

Pollins brings more than 30 years’ experience across property and specialist lending, including residential mortgages, family offices, private equity and short-term finance.

He will oversee Magnet’s finance operations, strategy and capital management and work alongside Co-founders Ashley Ilsen and Sam Howard on the lender’s longer-term growth plans.

The appointment forms part of Magnet’s wider strategy to grow lending volumes and strengthen its position in the UK development finance market.

‘STRONG FOUNDATIONS’

Pollins says: “I am truly excited to be joining the team at Magnet Capital, having joined at pivotal moments in many lending businesses, the reputation the team at Magnet currently have sets it apart.

“I’m looking forward to working with the team to help build upon the already strong foundations in place as they continue to grow the business and ambitions for the future.

“Whilst the market challenges which we currently face put pressure on the property development industry, the plans to further strengthen the offering in order to support intermediaries and clients shall be a key part in ensuring positive outcomes for all involved.”

Sam Howard, CEO and co-founder of Magnet Capital, adds: “Simon brings exactly the kind of experience we were looking for. He is hugely experienced as a finance director, but what really sets him apart is that he also understands lending from the inside, having held senior roles within finance businesses.

“That gives him a great combination of technical financial expertise and genuine commercial understanding. As Magnet continues to develop, having someone of Simon’s calibre and experience in the CFO role is a real asset.

“We’re delighted to have him on board and I’m looking forward to working with him as we take the business forward.”
