CapitAll Finance has become a lender member of the Bridging & Development Lenders Association (BDLA), adding to the trade body’s representation of the specialist property finance market.
The lender provides bridging, refurbishment, commercial and semi-commercial finance through intermediaries, with a lending model that separates broker relationships from credit decisions, funding and loan management.
Under the arrangement, brokers retain responsibility for their client relationships and benefit from the lending they originate throughout the life of the loan. CapitAll Finance maintains central control over underwriting, credit and capital deployment.
The BDLA represents bridging and development lenders and their customers, engaging with government, regulators and the wider property finance industry on issues affecting the sector.
Its membership includes lenders and associate businesses, with activities covering industry standards, market developments, networking and regulatory engagement.
FOCUS ON UNDERWRITING AND BROKER RELATIONSHIPS
Adam Tyler, chief executive of the BDLA (pictured), says: “Bridging relies heavily on the relationship between lenders and brokers and the success of the market is built on maintaining strong underwriting and credit disciplines behind that relationship.
“Membership of the BDLA demonstrates a commitment to those relationships and we’re delighted to welcome CapitAll Finance as our latest lender member.”
Richard Whitehouse, director at CapitAll Finance, has more than 28 years’ experience in alternative finance and specialist lending.
He says: “The BDLA provides an important forum for lenders to discuss the issues that affect the market beyond individual transactions.
“After more than 28 years working across alternative finance and specialist lending, I have seen how important disciplined credit, sustainable funding and strong intermediary relationships are to building lending businesses for the long term.
“Those principles are central to how we are building CapitAll Finance. Our brokers benefit from the lending they originate for the life of the loan and keep their own client proposition front and centre, while we take responsibility for credit, funding and loan management.
“Joining the BDLA gives us the opportunity to share that experience, learn from other lenders and play an active role in the conversations that will shape the next stage of the specialist property finance market.”
