TENN appoints Christian Mathews to grow commercial real estate lending

TENN has appointed Christian Mathews as executive director, commercial real estate, as the short-term finance provider looks to expand its lending activity across the sector.

The appointment forms part of TENN’s plan to scale its commercial real estate lending capabilities, alongside its wider work across real estate, financial assets and fund finance.

Mathews (pictured) brings more than 25 years’ experience in real estate finance, including 17 years at RBS in senior origination and structuring roles.

He has also spent more than a decade in the private equity and private capital market, advising on and arranging finance for complex real estate transactions across Europe.

His experience includes funding across residential, hospitality and complex development projects, supported by long-standing relationships across the real estate sector.

At TENN, Mathews will focus on originating commercial real estate lending opportunities, building a pipeline of new business and working with borrowers, lenders, intermediaries and advisers.

Steve O’Brien, managing director of TENN, said: “Christian’s depth of experience across both institutional lending and private capital makes him the ideal person to lead our commercial real estate offering. He understands the complexities of structuring finance in this space and, crucially, the importance of trust and long-term relationships.

“His appointment is another clear signal of our intent to scale the TENN platform and strengthen our position across our core lending verticals.”

Christian Mathews, executive director, commercial real estate at TENN, said: “Having spent over 25 years in real estate finance, I’ve built a reputation for combining deep lender relationships with a creative, solution-led approach to financing.

“TENN’s business model aligns perfectly with the way I work – getting close to people and their businesses, understanding the vision behind projects and delivering financial solutions built on certainty and trust. I’m very excited to hit the ground running.”
