The Bridging & Development Lenders Association (BDLA) has expanded its associate membership with the addition of litigation specialist Cardium Law.
The firm provides legal services covering construction, business and finance, including litigation, access to finance and risk management.
Cardium Law works with businesses of varying sizes and maintains relationships with insurers, brokers and litigation funders.
Its appointment adds further legal expertise to the BDLA’s membership, which comprises specialist property finance lenders and professional services firms supporting the bridging and development finance markets.
The association represents the interests of lenders and their customers, promoting responsible lending and best practice while engaging with regulators, policymakers and other stakeholders on matters affecting the sector.
Adam Tyler, chief executive officer of the BDLA, says: “Legal expertise is an important part of the infrastructure that supports specialist property finance, particularly as lenders navigate increasingly complex transactions and manage risk throughout the lending process.
“Bringing firms with different areas of professional expertise into the BDLA helps create a broader exchange of knowledge between lenders and the businesses that support them.
“Cardium Law brings experience across litigation, finance and construction, and we look forward to drawing on that perspective as part of our Associate membership.”
Matthew Clark, chief executive officer at Cardium Law, says: “Specialist property finance increasingly relies on different disciplines working effectively together and there’s real value in bringing the right legal and finance expertise around a transaction or dispute rather than looking at each issue in isolation.
“Joining the BDLA gives Cardium an opportunity to contribute our experience to a wider network of lenders and professional advisers and build the relationships that help the industry deal with complex situations more effectively.”
