Assetz Capital and Searchland to host webinar for SME housebuilders

Assetz Capital has partnered with Searchland to host a webinar aimed at helping SME housebuilders identify and assess development opportunities.

The session, which will take place on Thursday, 23 July at 10am, will provide a practical walkthrough of how data can be used to evaluate potential sites and avoid costly mistakes at the early stages of a project.

Searchland, a site sourcing and assessment platform used by more than 2,000 property professionals, works with developers, land agents, planners and investors to identify, evaluate and acquire land for development.

During the webinar, Searchland’s team will demonstrate how property and planning data can be used to assess potential sites and support more informed decisions.

Using examples of development opportunities around Birmingham, the session will look at how planning history, ownership information, planning constraints, SHLAA data and local sales and lettings activity can affect whether a site is suitable for development.

It will also examine less obvious indicators that can help developers decide whether an opportunity is worth progressing.

Since 2013, Assetz Capital has provided more than £1.7bn to SME developers across the UK, supporting projects from acquisition and planning through to development and refinance.

Andrew Fraser (pictured), chief commercial officer at Assetz Capital, says: “As a lender that supports SME housebuilders through every stage of the development lifecycle, we understand that, in today’s market, finding the right opportunity is about more than locating available land.

“Developers need to understand planning history, ownership structures, local market dynamics and potential constraints before deciding whether a site is worth pursuing.

“That’s why we’ve partnered with Searchland for a specific webinar – to give developers, land buyers and property professionals the practical tools and knowledge needed to strengthen their approach to site identification and assessment.”
