Afin Bank expands sales team with three BDMs

Afin Bank has appointed three regional business development managers to increase its broker coverage across the North, Midlands and South.

The appointments come as the specialist lender enters its second year of trading with a proposition spanning residential and buy-to-let mortgages alongside its recently launched regulated bridging range.

Sabiha Moghal (main picture, left) covers the Midlands, Elliot Newey (main picture, middle) takes responsibility for the North and Bradley Street (main picture, right) focuses on the South.

Afin says the expanded team will support more brokers with clients whose circumstances fall outside mainstream lending criteria.

MIDLANDS COVERAGE

Moghal joins Afin from Charles Street Finance and also brings business development experience from Mansfield Building Society, State Bank of India and Keystone Property Finance.

She says: “I like the fact that Afin puts the customer at the very heart of what it does and looks at the whole picture when considering someone for a mortgage. There’s no such thing as a ‘standard’ customer anymore and brokers are having to work even harder to find solutions for their clients. We will be able to help customers that the high street lenders can’t.”

NORTHERN EXPANSION

Newey brings more than 25 years of financial services experience, including roles at Zephyr Homeloans and Market Financial Solutions.

He says: “The needs of borrowers are changing, whether they’ve got several incomes to get by, have a higher income and are looking for a larger loan, or they’re from overseas in the UK on a work visa. But whatever their circumstances, there’s always a person at the end of it, and I am looking forward to working with brokers to help more people to get the mortgage they need.”

SOUTHERN BROKER SUPPORT

Street has almost 20 years of industry experience and joins Afin from Market Harborough Building Society. His previous employers include Hodge for Intermediaries, Secure Trust Bank, Pepper Money, Castle Trust and Halifax.

He says: “Afin will appeal to lots of brokers because of its approach to helping people, so I look forward to working with advisers and building relationships with the bank. Because Afin’s loans are underwritten individually, a strong message to brokers is ‘let’s talk’, let’s see how we can help your client where a bigger lender can’t.”

Anum Mahmood, national sales director at Afin Bank, adds: “There is real momentum at Afin Bank, so as we enter our second year we want to build on that with an even bigger team of skilled BDMs, dedicated to working with brokers and supporting borrowers. It’s really great to have Sabiha, Elliot and Brad onboard so we can tell the Afin story right across the country.”

Afin offers residential and buy-to-let mortgages and regulated bridging finance on properties in England and Wales, alongside FSCS-protected savings accounts.
