GB Bank has surpassed £1 billion of lending less than two and a half years after reaching its first £100 million of originations in May 2024.
The specialist bank has continued to expand its property-backed lending business despite higher funding costs and more cautious conditions across the lending market.
Its growth has included an expansion of its commercial finance proposition, with the maximum loan size recently increased from £20 million to £25 million.
COMMERCIAL LENDING EXPANSION
GB Bank has also introduced a simplified product range with specific pricing for loans of up to £3 million as it seeks to broaden its reach among intermediaries.
The bank has joined the Bridging & Development Lenders Association as a lender member and become a lender partner of the Financial Intermediary & Broker Association.
It was also added to Mortgage Advice Bureau’s lender panel in August, providing its advisers with access to the bank’s buy-to-let proposition for residential, semi-commercial and commercial property enquiries.
GB Bank combines retail savings with property-backed lending and specialist funding lines, working with intermediaries, property investors, businesses and non-bank lenders.
Eddie Trahearn (pictured), chief executive officer at GB Bank, says: “Reaching £1 billion in lending in under two and half years, against a challenging market backdrop, is a landmark moment for GB Bank.
“It demonstrates the strength of our proposition, the trust our intermediaries and customers place in us, and the relentless commitment of our people to finding solutions where others see obstacles.
“We’ve never set out to be the biggest lender in the market. We’ve set out to be one of the most trusted. By staying close to our customers, solving complex funding challenges and continually expanding our capabilities, we’ve created a platform for long-term growth.
“The fact we’ve reached this milestone so quickly shows there is a real appetite for a lender that can move at pace, think differently and deliver with certainty.”
FOCUS ON EXECUTION
Pankaj Thukral, chief lending officer and deputy chief executive officer at GB Bank, says: “In a market where rising rates and tighter lending criteria have made funding harder to secure, borrowers increasingly value lenders that can provide certainty and deliver completions. That is precisely where our team has made the difference.
“Reaching £1 billion has come down to execution: understanding complex cases quickly, being straight with intermediaries about what we can and cannot do and then delivering on what we commit to. Every one of these loans has been individually underwritten and individually delivered.
“I am immensely proud of the team who have made this happen. Their expertise and commitment to delivery are the reason customers and intermediaries continue to work with us, and they are the foundation we will build on from here.”
