UTB expands asset finance teams amid rising volumes

United Trust Bank has appointed four new team members to its asset finance business, bolstering its credit, operations and payouts functions as transaction levels increase.

The lender said the hires form part of a continued effort to improve speed and service to brokers while supporting higher levels of new business.

TWO NEW UNDERWRITERS

Umar Butt has joined from Groupe BPCE, where he was team leader in flow underwriting. He brings 10 years’ experience in financial services across the SME and consumer sectors.

His background includes underwriting across agricultural, transport, industrial and construction sectors. The bank said he is already contributing to its agricultural proposition and reconnecting with brokers at trade shows and events.

Tharun Rajagi has also moved from Groupe BPCE, having previously worked as a risk manager. He joined in January as an underwriter within the flow team and has a particular interest in developing the bank’s high value car finance offering.

KYC CAPABILITY

Grant Watkins has joined the asset finance KYC team as a risk and compliance consultant. He has more than three years’ experience in financial crime prevention, specialising in AML investigations, KYC reviews and quality control.

Watkins previously worked with FDM Group and KPMG. The bank said his appointment strengthens the team as new business enquiries continue to rise.

PAYOUTS TEAM

Jessica Womack has joined the payouts team, also from Groupe BPCE. She previously held roles at HTB and Renaissance Asset Finance.

United Trust Bank said she secured her mandate within her first month as the payouts team manages increased levels of activity.

Nathan Mollett, head of asset finance at United Trust Bank, said: “We said we’d be growing the team this year and we meant it. Whilst technology continues to transform the way we all do business, it’s still the people delivering the service who make the biggest difference.

“We have continued to invest in recruiting experienced and dedicated people across all disciplines.

“Umar, Tharun, Grant and Jessica bring lots of experience to the team and are making an immediate impact as business volumes increase.

“They bring enthusiasm, specialist knowledge and a commitment to providing excellent service to our broker partners, helping us to develop and deliver the best experience for brokers and customers.”
