Together has been shortlisted in the Financial Services Company of the Year category at the British Business Awards, with the winners due to be announced in Edinburgh on 30 April.
The specialist lender is among 149 businesses named on this year’s shortlist, which spans large corporates, family firms and SMEs from across the UK.
Together said the recognition follows a year in which it grew its loan book to £8bn across its commercial and personal finance range.
The group, which has a 50-year history, will also be included in the inaugural British Business Leaders List, a designation created by the awards to recognise organisations judged to be setting the pace in modern enterprise.
More than 400 companies entered this year’s awards. Organisers said shortlisted firms were assessed across five areas: business performance, innovation, workforce and culture, customer impact, and contribution to society and the wider economy.
The judging panel is chaired by former Unilever chief executive Alan Jope and Emma Crystal, chief executive of Coutts Bank. The event, which will take place at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, is also expected to raise funds for homelessness charity Social Bite.
Richard Rowntree (pictured), chief executive of Together, says: “It is wonderful for Together to be recognised as a contender for Financial Services Company of the Year at these prestigious awards.
“This year we have driven the loan book to a new high through our continued mission to open doors for individuals and businesses so that they can realise their property ambitions.
“It’s also a year where we have also been busily executing our strategic plan to prepare for Together’s next 50 year trajectory. To be acknowledged for this growth and performance so far is a great testament to our hard working teams.”
Alan Jope, chair of the judging panel, adds: “The calibre of companies on the shortlist is extraordinary, and our job as judges is simply to maintain the highest standards and ensure that truly outstanding businesses emerge as the winners.
“From global innovators like AstraZeneca and Moderna to much-loved brands such as Nando’s, Warburtons and Iceland, this year’s cohort represents companies that are truly shaping Britain’s economic future.”
