Pallas Capital has appointed Phil Mabb as senior originator, strengthening its UK team following the lender’s entry into the non-bank lending market last month.
Mabb (main picture, inset) brings more than 25 years’ experience across specialist property finance, spanning senior banking roles, independent broking and advisory work.
He began his career in mainstream banking before moving into senior property lending positions.
He later spent almost 12 years as a broker and consultant at bridgedevelopment.co.uk, building a strong reputation across the bridging and development finance market.
DETAILED UNDERSTANDING
His background on both sides of the transaction gives him a detailed understanding of credit decision-making and the practical requirements of intermediaries.
Pallas Capital, a bridging and development finance provider, prides itself on disciplined underwriting and certainty of execution and is striving to build a long-term presence in the UK mid-market.
TOUGH MARKET
Mabb says: “This is a tough market, but that’s exactly why it’s such a good opportunity. Strong lenders establish themselves when conditions are challenging, not when everything is easy. Pallas is well funded, committed and built for long-term growth, which makes now the right time to be here.”
And he adds: “Having spent many years on the broking side, I know what frustrates intermediaries: shifting appetite, unclear answers and slow decision-making. What brokers want is clarity and confidence that a lender can actually deliver and that’s where Pallas stands out.”
In his role, Mabb will work closely with executive director Ben Keenan, chief credit officer Uliana Kuzmis and the wider origination and credit teams to ensure alignment between origination, underwriting and execution.
COMMERCIALITY AND DISCIPLINE
Mabb says: “Good lending is about balancing commerciality with discipline. It’s not about doing every deal, but about finding the right way to support well-structured transactions without compromising credit standards.”

Keenan adds: “Phil brings a rare combination of broker credibility, lending experience and market judgement. As we grow the UK platform, his insight will be invaluable in delivering the consistency and professionalism that define Pallas globally.”
Pallas Capital’s UK launch is supported by committed institutional funding, forward-flow and warehouse facilities and the wider Pallas Group, which manages a £1.8bn loan book and has completed more than 1,100 transactions since 2016.
