FCA opens enforcement probe into Market Financial Solutions following administration

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has launched an enforcement investigation into Market Financial Solutions Limited after the firm entered administration last month.

The regulator confirmed it is examining the circumstances surrounding the business following its entry into administration on 25 February.

Market Financial Solutions Limited is registered with the FCA as an Annex 1 firm, meaning it is supervised solely for compliance with the Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017.

As an Annex 1 business, the firm is not authorised by the FCA and does not fall under the regulator’s wider supervisory framework.

The FCA said the investigation forms part of its enforcement remit, although no further details have been provided at this stage.

The move highlights the regulator’s role in overseeing anti-money laundering compliance across registered firms, even where those businesses are not fully authorised or regulated under the broader financial services regime.

The timing of the probe follows the firm’s administration, raising questions over compliance and oversight in the period leading up to its collapse.

Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
