BDLA creates non-executive chair role for Vic Jannels

The Bridging & Development Lenders Association has appointed Vic Jannels as its first non-executive chair, formalising his continued involvement with the trade body after stepping down as chief executive earlier this year.

Jannels moved aside from the chief executive role following the appointment of Adam Tyler at the start of the year.

The newly created non-executive chair position will see him provide strategic guidance and continuity as the association develops its agenda for lenders active in the bridging and development finance markets.

INCREASED ENGAGEMENT

Over six years as chief executive, Jannels oversaw a period of growth in membership and increased engagement with regulators and policymakers. He also played a role in promoting standards and greater professionalism across the specialist lending sector.

For bridging and development lenders the move provides continuity at a time when the sector continues to mature and attract greater regulatory and political attention.

The BDLA has increasingly positioned itself as a representative body for specialist lenders operating outside the mainstream mortgage market, particularly in areas such as short-term funding and development finance.

Jannels says: “The BDLA is in excellent hands and I am confident that Adam will take the association to new levels of influence and engagement across the sector.

“With a strong pipeline of initiatives already underway and further opportunities ahead, I’m delighted to continue supporting the BDLA as it builds on its momentum and continues to grow.”

BIG CONTRIBUTION

Adam Tyler, chief executive officer of the BDLA, adds: “Vic’s contribution to the BDLA and the wider industry has been significant.

Adam Tyler, BDLA“His experience, insight and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to grow the association, develop new initiatives for members and further strengthen our role as the voice of the bridging and development lending sector.

“I’m very pleased he will remain closely involved as Non-Executive Chair.”

The creation of a non-executive chair role reflects a more formal governance structure as the association seeks to build on recent growth while supporting its members through changing market conditions.
